Massive performance increase to email services! Accuraty Solutions staff has successfully moved all email services to a new server feature double the RAM, double the storage and we also went from a single Xeon processor to a screaming dual quad core CPU based on Intel's Nehalem processor architecture. The move was successfully completed between 1am and 4am Saturday morning on 4/03/2010.

Accuraty has recently upgraded its primary email solution to the version 6.5 release of SmarterMail. This upgrade is significant in two many areas. 1) massive improvement to the spam prevention abilities that are native to the product. Accuraty Solutions has upgraded its Spam prevention to include use of the Barracuda Networks BRBL (pronounced Bar-bell) IP blocking lists via the DNSBL interface. Starting in January 2009, we are more aggressively blocking IP addresses known to send spam.

Accuraty Solutions has added another mail server to the mix. This one is primarily positioned as a backup mail server, usually used as an MX 20. This means that if your primary mail server is down for a few minutes, mail will go to the backup mail server where it will be stored, waiting until the primary mail server comes back online. The upgrade resulted in two short outages. One server reboot had the mail services down for about 4 minutes. The actual upgrade and expansion had us down for slightly longer than 15 minutes. All this was done between the hours of 11pm and 2am (late Sat). As always, the backup mail servers were online and caught, held and later delivered any emails that might have come through during those times.
